“There’s no conflict between pleasing the palate and promoting peace. We get to do both.”
Pure Abundance was born out of a chance encounter when I took a wrong turn driving home in Atlanta one night and ended up on Memorial Drive. I saw a dog running across the busy street, and I brought her home with me. I named her Abra and became a dog mom for the first time.
Sharing my home and life with an animal led to an aha moment: I made the connection between the animals we love and the animals we use for food. Over the next year, I transitioned to a vegan lifestyle and learned how to cook.
Before living with Abra brought the issue front and center, I thought vegans had a superhuman level of virtue that I did not possess. I’ve always loved animals, but I love food too. What I didn’t know, and what a lot of people still don’t know, is the secret that made it easy for me to become and remain vegan:
The food is good!
Once I unlocked that mystery, my life’s purpose became clear: to help animals by teaching people that we can create craveworthy culinary delights using only plants.
Pure Abundance is my way of sharing what I’ve learned: We don’t have to choose between having a satisfying, exciting food experience and being kind to animals. There’s no conflict between pleasing the palate and promoting peace. We get to do both.
